About
Kyle Sands
There's always more going on than you are led to believe.
Kyle Sands writes techno-thrillers and speculative mysteries built on a single idea: that the surface of things is rarely the whole story. His fiction unfolds in worlds where the official explanation is never the real one, where no one is quite who they first appear to be, and where the truth turns out to be larger, stranger, and more human than it looked going in.
Before fiction, he spent decades as a software developer, and he brings an engineer's habit to the page: a tendency to take a thing apart, understand exactly how it works, and only then figure out how it breaks. His central project is the Fractured Sky trilogy — Fractured Sky, Meridian Sky, and Vacant Sky — a present-day thriller about three nations secretly racing to weaponize a discovery none of them fully understands. Alongside it he's working on a second series, and a lighter serial following the misadventures of a globe-trotting secret-agent frog.
He tends to keep to himself, with a close circle he trusts. When he's not writing, you'll most likely find him deep in the backcountry of Glacier National Park with friends, or settled into his favorite pub somewhere in the Czech Republic.
